Smartest Dog EVER!

Zuzu continues to grow, continues to amuse me, and continues to amaze me! I think she is the smartest dog I have ever met.  (Just don't confuse that with 'most obedient'!)

Here are some things that she has recently learned:

- She can now jump onto and run across any furniture in the house other than our bed, which is still a little too high. It started with an enthusiastic, "Zuzu! Come!" from Jim. She barreled around a corner and through the kitchen at top speed and raced across the family room, jumping straight up onto his lap and into his arms in his big chair! I think she even surprised herself!

- She has learned to ring the bell to go outside and has not peed on a dog bed/floor/mat/crate in over a week....typing with fingers crossed here!

- She has learned how to 'greet and sniff' other neighborhood dogs.

- She has learned how to play fetch, though she does not always choose to.

- She has learned that I almost always have treats in my pocket and she is trying hard to learn how to earn them.

- She knows the meaning of the word "no". Refer back to bullet on "fetching" to see how she can easily choose to follow her own will.

- She knows her name, and that normally good things follow it. As soon as she hears 'Zu', her ears are perked up and her head is cocked, waiting for what is next.  If it's not to her liking, she goes right back to whatever was previously amusing her.

- She has learned that Darby only plays if she's playing nicely, so now she is always sweet to Darby. (Maybe I should have Darby help train her.)

- She knows the rest of us have more patience and will tolerate a certain level of crazy-puppy, so she's a little more crazy with us.

- She knows the light blue bag has her favorite rawhides and she can get a new one every evening if she starts to chew on the couch or coffee table.

- She has learned that the gardeners come every other Tuesday, but if she barks from the patio they won't steal the house, and she will be let inside where she can quietly guard from inside the glass door.

Puppy class starts on Saturday - I can't wait to see what she can learn there!
