Bunco Adventure

One Friday a month, I head out for a neighborhood bunco game.

This month's, luckily, was only about a block away, so I walked.  The reason that it was lucky, is that I forgot to bring any money.  You can't play bunco without money!  So, I texted Darby.  I figured that there were enough times that I had brought stuff to school for the girls that they had forgotten, that they could run my $10 over to me.

They came over almost right away, with the dogs.  I don't think I have ever seen two dogs so happy to see me come out of a house in my life.  Zuzu about had a fit - jumping and wiggling and squealing!  Zee was more calm, but very waggy and pulled right over to me to get many scratches.  I took my ten dollars, thanked the ladies (Darby and Tressa), said bye to the puppies and went back inside.  I missed the rest of the adventure.

Apparently, after I went back inside to merrily continue on in my game of dice, the girls began their walk home.  Tressa thought it would be fun to run home with Zuzu, so she began to run.  Part way home, Zuzu's collar fell right off her neck.  Tressa 'thought' she had clipped in on correctly, but had not.  Zuzu turned around, and sprinted back to the house that I was visiting.  Tressa ran.  Darby and Zee ran.  Zuzu ran faster.

Luckily, the husband was outside of the house, saw Zuzu running towards it and the girls chasing, called Zuzu over and she responded happily, he grabbed her collar, and waited for the girls.

"Is this YOUR dog?"

"Yes, sir."

"Why is she loose?"

"Her collar came off."  Darby said he looked down at the collar that he was holding as if he did not believe her.  "This one!" And they held up the metal collar that we use for walks.

He returned Zuzu to the girls and the girls brought the dogs right home.

When I walked into the house later that night, I got swarmed by furry excitement so crazy that I couldn't tell where one dog ended the other began.  Zee was crying and crying and wagging and bringing me toys and rawhides and Zuzu was bounding around like a lunatic!

They eventually settled down and laid near me as I sat on a couch in the TV room with the family.

Kind of makes you wish that you really were as special as your dogs think you are!

Bath Time

After the last blog, you can see why bath time was necessary!

Zee went first.

Why?  Why, Sir, are you doing this to me?

Zuzu comes to check out the action.  She doesn't realize that she's next.

Mom....put that camera down and RESCUE ME!

I don't care if I'm not done.  I just HAVE to shake!

Really?  You're just going to stand there and take pictures?  I thought you loved me.

Zu, get out out of the way!  I need to shake more!

Woah!  Almost lost an eyeball on that one!

Koshka is the smart one....watching from a nice safe distance!

Zuzu's turn.

We do feed her.  Honest.

I love you, Darby.  Now, please stop!

SHAKE!!!!

Am I done yet?

Diarrhea

Yuck Yuck YUCK!!!!!!

I don't know what caused it, I just wanted it to stop!

It was one thing in the backyard or on walks.  It made it quite difficult to pick up.

But on my living room sofa?!!!  Why, oh why, did he have to climb up there to do THAT?  He's not even allowed on the sofa! Ew!!!!  Thank goodness for zippered, covered cushions.

And greeting me in the entryway?  At least that was easier to clean up then the sofa.

I don't know if they got into something in the backyard, or if it was something that they ate, but we went back to straight dry food with pumpkin.

It took about three days to get it all out of their system, but they're finally on track again.

I'll start introducing extras back into their diet in a couple of days....a little at a time....and one thing at a time.

Two Videos

We were hiding from a thunderstorm/tornado watch, playing games in the basement, when the dogs realized that Jim had come home and was upstairs.

Zuzu was a little quicker at Zee to run up and greet Jim.

On the same afternoon, Darby decided to teach Zee to sing:

Wake Up!

Saturday mornings are for sleeping in.

Yeah - explain that to the dogs!

Jim got up with them at 0630 and let them out and fed them, and that bought me two more hours.  Then, at 0830 the nose poking and whining and stare-panting began.  (That's where they stare and you and pant so hard that not only can you hear them, but their hot doggy breath hits you in the face like a whiffle ball.....hah!  hah!  hah!  hah! hah! .....and you're forced to open at least one eye and look at them.)

Zee was first to see me awake.  Wag-wag-wag-smile-scratch my head!  So, I obliged.  I scratched his head.  Zuzu saw this and came over and pushed Zee's head out of my hand and put hers there instead.  Zee was not okay with that, and grabbed my hand with a curled paw and dragged it off Zu's head and back onto his own!

Zuzu said, "Oh HELL no!" and grabbed my arm with both paws, put it in her mouth (yes, my arm, in her mouth), and looked at him like, "Beat THAT!"

Okay.  Fine.  I'm up.

I was not willing to wait for what was next!
